The Best of Namibia - Wing Safari
Guests on this fly-in safari experience the highlights of mysterious Namibia- home of the highest sand dunes on earth and some wonderful wildlife areas. Areas visited include Sossusvlei, the Namib, the Skeleton Coast, Swakopmund, Damaraland and Etosha. The pilot and aircraft stay with the group throughout, so there is flexibility. Adventure Camping - Rough & Rugged
Several areas within Africa offer this option as a lower cost, high adventure alternative to permanent camps and lodge safaris. Travel is primarily by vehicle, but there may be some light aircraft transfers. Accommodation is in tents which are usually erected and dismantled by participants. You are accompanied by an experienced guide, a cook and a camphand. Meals and most other chores are handled by camp staff. ZIMBABWE BY DESIGN

Zimbabwe is a magnificent country of great diversity and is the ideal destination for the independent traveler. The area should be seriously considered for the adventurer looking for more then a vehicle safari. River rafting, multi-day canoe trips, walking safaris, and mobile tenting are all available. The following selections are recommended, although in addition to what is shown here, there is virtually no limit to the possibilities available in the region. Safaris will be created based on your interests and the type of activities you wish to participate in.


HWANGE NATIONAL PARK
Hwange is an ecologically diverse area, home to more then 100 different species including a great number of elephants. Bird watching is also excellent with over 400 species of birds. 

Makalolo Plains Tented Camps 
Luxury tents set on raised wooden platforms, located in a remote area of the park. Game drives and walking safaris are available.

The Hide & Jijima Camp 
Two private luxury tented camps. The Hide overlooks a waterhole and both camps offer walks and day and evening game drives.


VICTORIA FALLS

For the ultimate view of the Victoria Falls area, fly on a low-level flightseeing trip by microlight, helicopter or fixed wing aircraft.

MANA POOLS NATIONAL PARK
This park is uniquely characterized by river terraces, small pools and the steep Zambezi Escarpment. It is the home for more then 12,000 elephant and 16,000 buffalo. Species commonly seen include eland, crocodile, hippo, wild dog, leopard and nyala.

Chikwenya Lodge 
Accommodates 16 guests in a thatched lodge. Walks, game drives and boating safaris are available.

Ruckomechi Lodge
Considered to be one of the best properties in the area. Chalets have en suite facilities. Game drives, walks and canoeing are offered.

Canoe Safaris
A special feature of Mana Pools and Chizarira Park. 
1-4 day scheduled canoe trips are available featuring the excitement of the river and wildlife viewing in remote regions. 


MATUSADONA NATIONAL PARK
Situated on the southern shore of Lake Kariba, Matusadona has an abundance of wildlife including elephant, kudu, lion and buffalo that gather along the shoreline in the dry season from May until October. Game viewing is done by boat. Remote tenting & walking safaris are the main attractions. Three day walking safaris are available in a remote area of the park. 

Katete Lodge
Set on a hill, the lodge has 17 rooms and a swimming pool. Game viewing is available by boat, day and night drives and walks. Visits to local villages.

Matusadona Water Lodge & Water Wilderness
This amazing experience places you completely surrounds you with water wilderness.  Matusadona Water Lodge consists of four floating houseboats with en suite facilities. Game walks, canoeing, vehicle game drives and sunset boat cruises are offered.

ZAMBIA BY DESIGN
Adventures ranging from Whitewater Rafting to flying over Victoria Falls

Zambia is the ideal destination for the traveler who wants to “get physical” and truly participate while on safari. Get close to nature on walks in the bush, travel on the waterways by boat and view the game in open vehicles on night and day drives. Several of the properties offer Bush Walks - where participants walk from one site to the next, and can vary in length from a day to several days on foot. Although the walks may be long, they are not always strenuous. For the ultimate adventure, combine elements available in Zambia with those available in Botswana or Zimbabwe. SOUTH LUANGWA NATIONAL PARK
Situated in Zambia’s Rift Valley, the best way to see South Luangwa National Park is on a Born Free Bush Walk, in which a walking safari is done from one rustic bush camp to another. Safaris are based from lodges. Armed guards and guides lead all safaris. For those who prefer to do an easier walk, arrangements can be made to do walking safaris out of deluxe lodges.

Nsfefu Camp
Situated in the northern end of the park and near the Luangwa River, it has 6 brick and thatch rondavels with facilities en suite. A water hole and hides are situated adjacent to the camp.

Robin Pope
Robin Pope is a legend among guides in Africa, and he is regarded as one of the best in the region. He personally leads twelve mobile walking safaris during the year. Please request more details from a Born Free adventure specialist.

Tena Tena 
Pictured at right, this camp is located within South Luangwa near the Buka Buka Lagoon surrounded by ebony and mahogany trees. Combine a stay at Tena Tena with one of the popular multi-day 
Born Free Bush Walks.

Kapani Safari Lodge
This lodge was formerly operated by the late Norman Carr, the man who pioneered the walking safari in Zambia. The camp has 8 chalets with en suite facilities and a swimming pool. 

Chinzombo Safari Lodge
Located on the eastern bank of the Luangwa River, the camp has 9 chalets with en suite facilities. Chinzombo has two camps that are utilized on the overnight Born Free Bush Walks.


VICTORIA FALLS

Tongabezi
One of the most romantic properties in all of Africa, combines comfort with unique architecture. The main lodge consists of four uniquely themed houses and five luxury cottages set in a grove of trees with stunning views if the Zambezi River. Activities include: Sunrise/sunset boat trips, picnics at the edge of Victoria Falls, walks, canoeing, 
aerial excursions, and whitewater rafting. 


LOWER ZAMBEZI NATIONAL PARK
The park lies on the northern shore of the Lower Zambezi River opposite the famous Mana Pools Reserve in Zimbabwe. Enormous herds of elephant, some up to 100 strong inhabit the area. In addition lion, leopard, zebra, and hippo can be seen. Opportunities to view wildlife are available on game walks, in boats and in open safari vehicles on day and night drives.

Chiawa
A premium tented camp with an excellent professional guiding staff. Located across from Mana Pools it is ideal for game viewing by motorboat, canoe and vehicles. Eight deluxe tents, en suite sit overlooking the Chiawa & Zambezi rivers.

Lunga Cabins & Busanga Bush Camp
Chalets and rondavels with en suite facilities. Day and night game drives, walks, boat game viewing and canoeing.

Kafue National Park
Relatively undiscovered but yet contains a wealth of wildlife. The region has a diverse landscape that varies from woodlands to open grasslands, swamps and flood plains. An excellent off-the-beaten track park to combine with a visit to the Lower Zambezi and Victoria Falls.

Day 1 Harare, Zimbabwe
You are welcomed by a Born Free Safaris representative and transferred to your lodge. 
Wild Geese Lodge

Day 2-3 Lake Kariba
Fly to Kariba for a water wilderness experience. 
Water Wilderness (B-L-D)

Day 4-6 Lower Zambezi Park, Zambia
Transfers to Zambia for three nights game viewing by open vehicles, canoe and motorboat.
Chiwa Camp (B-L-D)

Day 7-8 South Luangwa
Fly to South Luangwa and transfer Nkwali Lodges, owned and operated by Robin Pope. Day and evening game drives in open safari vehicles.
Nkwali Lodge (B-L-D)

Day 9-11 South Luangwa
‘Born Free Bush Walk’ from rustic bush camp to rustic bush camp, game viewing en route.
Bush Camps (B-L-D)

Day 12-13 Victoria Falls/Departure
Continue on to spectacular Victoria Falls. There are many activities available including whitewater rafting, canoeing and a low level flight of the falls. Depart the next day for Harare where you board your flight home.
