1 - Depart Home on Saturday
On Saturday, board your KLM/Northwest flight to your adventrues
overseas. Wiith a short connection in Amsterdam, you are well on
your way to your first African destination, Egypt.
Day
2 - Arrive Cairo, Egypt
Upon arriving in Cairo, you will be met and assisted through Immigration
and Customs, then transferred to your hotel.

3 - Cairo
This morning enjoy an exciting visit to Cheop's Pyramid, one of
the Seven Ancient Wonders of the World and the Sphinx, the great
god-lion sentinel. Then expeience the fabulous Egyptian Museum.
Regarded as one of the most prominent in the world, it offers visitors
remarkable insights into Egypt's ancient history, dating back 5,000
years, including the priceless antiquities of King 'Tut'! In the
afternoon, you drive through Old Cairo with visits to many of the
spectacular temples and churchs, some dating back to the 5th Century.

4 - Cairo/Aswan (Nile Cruise) - Optional Abu Simbel Excursion
Transfer to Cairo Airport for your Optional* flight
to Abu Simbel, site of the magnificient Temples of Ramses II and
Queen Nefertari. An engineering marvel, the great temple was moved
up the hillside to save it from flooding by the waters of Lake Nasser
when Aswan's High Dam was built. You then continue on by air to
Aswan where you will be met on arrival and escorted to embark on
your Nile Cruise Ship**, your floating hotel for the next five days.
This afternoon visit by "felucca" sailing boat, Kitchner
Island and the Agha Khan Mausoleum.

5 - Aswan/Kom Ombo
Morning visit to Aswan's Old and High Dams, Philae Temple and the
granite quarries. Sail to Kom Ombo where you will visit the Temple
with its beautiful murals and exceptional view of the River Nile.
Continue on to Edfu for overnight. Tonight a special costume party
"native Egyptian and Pharaonic style".

6 - Kom Ombo/Edfu/Luxor
Today you will visit Edfu's Temple of Horus (237 B.C.). Continue
sailing to Luxor for overnight.

7 - Luxor
This morning you cross the Nile to Luxor's West Bank -- "Thebes."
Sightseeing includes the Valley of the Kings where some 64 of Egypt's
Pharaohs had their palatial resting places hewed into the sheer
rock; the Valley of the Queens, the still mind boggling Deir El
Bahari and the Colossi of Memnon. Overnight Luxor.

8 - Luxor/Cairo/Nairobi
After breakfast, you will visit the fascinating Luxor and Karnak
Temples, a holy city of pylons, hypostyle halls, colossal statues,
shrines and obelisks built over centuries and dedicated to the God
Amon-Ra, his consort Mut, and their son Khonsu. Disembark. Transfer
to the Luxor Airport for your return flight to Cairo, where you
will be met on arrival and transferred to Cairo International Airport
to connect with your evening flight to Nairobi.

9 - Nairobi
Upon arrival in Kenya this morning, you will be met by your
driver/guide, transferred
at the airport and escorted to your hotel. Nairobi is a myriad of
cultures, sights and sounds. There are excellent restaurants, art
galleries, handicraft kiosks and warm friendly people.

10 - Samburu Game Reserve
After breakfast you will proceed on to Samburu,
where you will enjoy an afternoon game drive in this Reserve noted
for several species of animals not found in the southern parks.
Your driver will be watching to show you the Reticulated Giraffe,
Grevy's Zebra, Somali Ostrich, Beisa Oryx, and the graceful little
long-necked gerenuk.

11 - Samburu Game Reserve
You will be taken on morning and afternoon game drives with
opportunity to see a wide range of animals. Leopards frequent the
river areas, and there are hippo and crocodile to see as well.

12 - Mt. Kenya
After breakfast, drive south into the forests of the Aberdare
Mountain Range, arriving at the Mountain Lodge in time for lunch.
This exotic tree lodge, set in a forest glade, attracts many types
of wildlife to it's waterhole. The waterhole is floodlit and there
is an underground viewing platform.

13 - Lake Nakuru National Park
This mornings departure is an exciting one. After breakfast, you
will depart via beautiful Nyahururu Falls to Lake Nakuru National
Park. Lake Nakuru,
the ornithologist's dream come true. Lake Nakuru is home to sometimes
over a million pink guests - the greater and lesser flamingos -
as well as nearly 500 other species of bird. Though primarily a
bird sanctuary, the 202 sq. km. park is also a black rhino sanctuary.
Reed buck, hippo, leopard, waterbuck and the introduced Rothschild
giraffe can also be seen. This park also boasts the greatest concentration
of leopar in Kenya. Arrive at the lodge in time for lunch and a
siesta before your afternoon game drive.

14 - Masai Mara Game Reserve
After breakfast, you will be on your way to the world famous Masai
Mara. Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch and a siesta. The Masai Reserve is one of the world's greatest wildlife habitats,
featuring giraffe, ostrich, waterbuck, bushbuck, countless gazelles
and antelopes, zebra, wildebeest, and over 400 species of birds.
The famous "big Five" are here too: leopard, lion, buffalo,
rhino and elephant. This afternoon you will be taken on a game drive.

15 - Masai Mara Game Reserve
The high altitude and the humid conditions created by being located
within the Lake Victoria district result in a temperate climate
that is ideal game country. The gently rolling landscape of the
Mara is predominantly made up of savannah grasslands intersected
with areas of dense acacia woodlands. On your morning and afternoon
game drives you may see a wide variety of game species.

16 - Mara / Nairobi / Depart
After breakfast, return to Nairobi with an arrival time around lunchtime.
Spend the day in Nairobi before you are transferred to the airport
for your evening KLM/Northwest flight home.

After connecting in Amsterdam, you will arrive back home from your
journey on Monday.
