The Kenya Discovery is an excellent safari for families and other individuals who want to experience game viewing as well as a variety of other activities. Educational and cultural exchanges are featured, such as visits at an African animal orphanage, a Masai village, the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife’s Giraffe Center and an invitational dinner at the home of our managing director. Guides are selected that have an affinity with children, forming a warm and lifelong friendship.

Day 1 - USA - Amsterdam
Your journey begins. Depart the USA on Northwest/KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.

Day 2 - Amsterdam - Kenya
Arrive in Amsterdam and continue on a KLM flight to Kenya. You are welcomed at the airport by a Born Free representative who will escort you to the hotel and assist you with check-in.

Day 3-4 - Amboseli National Park
After breakfast, visit the Daphne Sheldrick Wildlife Orphanage (if available). Then board your safari vehicle to Amboseli National Park. An afternoon game drive introduces us to the wildlife. Photo opportunities abound as the wildlife seemingly pose for our cameras against the breathtaking backdrop of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Day 5 - Central Highlands & Mt. Kenya
Set out this morning for Ol Pejeta, a private 110,000-acre ranch. The property is a sanctuary for Jane Goodall's chimps and the endangered rhino. The area is also inhabited by zebra, giraffe and elephant. The camp has well appointed tents built on platforms with proper bathroom facilities en suite. From each tent you can sit and watch the wildlife from the veranda. In the evening, you may take an optional exciting night drive to view the nocturnal wildlife.

Day 6-7 - Samburu Game Reserve
Cross over the Equator and continue to the rugged, semidesert Northern Frontier District. While game viewing, your guide will search for the elusive leopards and species exclusive to the northern district such as the Grevy's zebra, the Somlai ostrich and the reticulated giraffe. An optional visit to a traditional Samburu village can be arranged.

Day 8 - Lake Nakuru National Park
Head south, traveling south across the Equator to Lake Nakuru National Park, world famous for its stunning flocks of lesser flamingo which literally turn its shores pink. The park spans an attractive range of wooded and bush grassland around the lake, offering wide ecological diversity, from Lake Water, woodland to the rocky escarpment and ridges. Notable game within the lake includes hippo and clawless otters. On the shores roam waterbuck, Bohor’s Reedbuck and Zebra. The woodlands and forest are now home to both black and white rhino. Tonight you spend the evening at the Lion Hill Lodge.

Day 9-11 - Masai Mara Game Reserve / Visit with the Masai
Board your vehicle to the airport for a flight that will take you over the Great Rift Valley and the Masai Mara Reserve. This area offers unsurpassed game viewing. Over the next two days you will venture out on game drives to experience the beauty of the golden plains, spotted with incredible wildlife.
The gently rolling savannah and rivers prove the perfect terrain to see a wealth of wildlife, including elephants, lion, zebra, giraffe, waterbuck and cheetah. Your deluxe permanent tented camp offers a great base for game viewing exploration. An exciting educational visit with the Masai people and an opportunity to take nature walks are also planned.

Day 12 - Nairobi / Departure
After a sunrise game drive you will board your flight to Nairobi. Visit the interactive Giraffe Center at the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife, and then continue to a dayroom that is provided for your convenience. This evening you will be guests at the home of our managing director for a special farewell dinner. Transfer to the airport for your departing flight or return to your hotel for overnight if you are continuing on an extension.

Connect in Amsterdam to your KLM Royal Dutch Airlines/Northwest flight home.
