When the sun rose, we walked in the footsteps of ancient warriors,
tracking the wild by the scent on the wind and the prints through the grass. The excitement of experiencing nature by being part of it could not be contained by our group. We gave away our position to a nearby gazelle, who bounced forth suddenly and disappeared into the bush. At night, under canvas tents we listened to the African lullaby echoing through the savannah. When the sun rose, we walked in the Path of the Masai once more. |

Day 3-4 - Ng'iresi Cultural Experience/Tarangire National Park
After breakfast you will meet your Born Free Guide. Board a 4x4 safari vehicle and head into the Tanzania countryside. Ng’iresi Village is located just outside Arusha on the green slopes of Mt. Meru. You will be welcomed at Mzee Loti’s farm by a local guide who will take you on an educational and scenic tour of the village, including stops at traditional Masai and
Wa-arusha houses and a visit to a traditional healer who will introduce you to the herbal medicine found in the area. After a traditional lunch prepared by women from the village, you will board your vehicle and head to Tarangire National Park, the quintessence of Old Africa. The intriguing atmosphere seems prehistoric with ancient baobab trees, scrub bush and strangely horned antelopes and tall giraffe. There is not only
excellent wildlife, but also over 300 bird species! Our camp is highly personalized and set in a classic style. The large tents have comfortable beds, plus private toilet and shower facilities. Enjoy game drives and a walking safari.

Day
6 - Lake Eyasi Cultural Experience
Unique cultural interaction with Tanzanian tribes. Head south into
the true back country. Travel off-road for several hours to get
to local villages that are not on the regular tour route. The Barbaigs
and the Hadzas are two very small "forgotten" tribes traced
back over 800 years. The Hadzas are the only bushmen in East Africa.
They speak the click language and still hunt with bows and arrows.
They are nomadic so you will try to locate them today. In the evening
proceed to Gibb's Farm for overnight.

Day 7-8 - Ngorongoro Crater
Take a walking safari today and visit a Masai village. Then continue through the countryside to the rim of Ngorongoro Crater, where your lodge is located. On your second day, you will descend for a full day of game viewing on the floor of the crater. The Ngorongoro Crater is about 12 miles across making it the largest, undamaged collapsed volcano in the world. The crater rim is at an altitude of 7,500 ft. ensuring cool evenings. It is estimated that more than
30,000 animals can be found within the crater walls at any one time. Because the crater floor is mostly flat grassland with patches of acacia woodland, game viewing is excellent.
Ngorongoro Serena Lodge
Day 9-10 - Serengeti National Park

Each tent has proper bedding, toilet and shower providing "no frills", but high comfort. Wake up to fresh bread and hot coffee. Stay out a full day with a picnic lunch and then return for a delicious dinner and sit around a roaring campfire hearing stories of Africa.
