Your Born Free Guide

On a Born Free Safari you will travel with an experienced guide who will see to all your daily needs. A seasoned professional, his combined responsibilities include tour guide, game tracker, problem solver and personal driver.

A Born Free Guide is not just assigned to a trip. A great deal of care goes into matching guides with the tour he will be leading. They are selected for their special interests, knowledge of the area and their personalities.

All East African Born Free Guides are members of the East African Professional Safari Guide Association and must attend one of the tourism schools in East Africa. The curriculum must include training that is crucially important to making your safari successful. Subjects range from first aid, vehicle maintenance, culture, wildlife, foreign languages and conservation. Many of our guides have guided Born Free travellers for over 20 years. They must keep to our high standards of service. Their confidence, guidance, humor and knowledge ensure that your safari will be a step above the rest.

Our Safari Vehicles (top)

Wherever you travel in Africa, your mode of transportation is of key importance. Vehicles are selected to provide you with comfort and safety. You will never be cramped into a large, uncomfortable tour bus and all Born Free clients are guaranteed window seats on safari. All vehicles have either a photographic hatch or are open to allow the maximum viewing opportunities. Vehicles undergo rigorous inspection and continuous maintenance. In East Africa, we have the largest and most modern fleet available. In other Africa destinations our vehicles all meet stringent standards.

Our Safari Guide Association Partnerships (top)

Association of Professional Safari Guides
Born Free Safaris & Tours is proud to be the only tour operator featuring the Association of Professional Safari Guides. While driver/guides provide an extremely fulfilling experience in the bush, a member of APSG adds an additional perspective to a safari. Your private APSG Guide can take you on a walking or canoe safari in Zambia or Zimbabwe, give you in-depth information on the ecosystem of the Okavango Delta, take you to meet the unique people of the Omo Valley in Ethiopia, lead you on a hike off the beaten track in Tanzania and provide game drives in open vehicles. All grades of accommodations are available.

East African Professional Safari Guide Associations
Born Free Safaris guides featured below are members of either the East Africa Professional Safari Guides or Kenya Safari Guide Association. These guides are trained professionals with years of experience in the bush. They are experts in wildlife, culture and tourism and are professional drivers and trackers as well.
