REVIEW:
This safari covers the most prolific and beautiful areas in Tanzania. Lodges are excellent but not the most deluxe category. One should be aware of long drives before booking this trip. If that does not bother you, we can guarantee a fabulous journey. |

Day

Arrive in Amsterdam early this morning from your home city. Connect on your KLM flight to Arusha. Arrive Arusha, where you are met and greeted by our representative. This evening you will have a safari briefing before the real adventure begins the following morning.
Morivaro Plantation
Day
3-4 - Tarangire National Park
This morning, depart for a private tented camp situated along the boundary of Tarangire National Park.
Your explorations begin with a game drive in the park that is the quintessence of Old Africa. Tarangire has not only excellent wildlife but also features over 300 bird species! The intriguing atmosphere seems quite prehistoric with ancient baobab trees, scrub bush and outlines of strangely horned antelopes and tall giraffe. This area has a very different and magical feel that makes it so unique – even without the wildlife, the visit is worthwhile. Fewer tourists visit this park than all the other parks. It is one of the best areas on the Tanzania northern circuit to see elephant.
The wildlife viewing is excellent, with many migratory animals returning in early summer to the only permanent water source in the area – the Tarangire River and its tributaries.Tribal visits and walking in the area neighboring Tarangire is offered to those wanting a cultural experience. Learning about their history is as fascinating as are the views from the several hilltops in the area. On the second day enjoy an additional full day game drive.

Day
5 - Lake Manyara
After breakfast, depart on a drive through the Rift Valley to Lake Manyara National Park. The park is located 75 miles south west of Arusha. More that two thirds of this small park (127 square miles) are covered by lake. The park lies at the foot of the escarpment of the eastern branch of the Great Rift Valley at an altitude of 3,100 feet. Lake Manyara National Park has five different vegetation zones including groundwater forest with giant fig and mahogany trees, marshlands and reedbeds, stretches of open grassland, acacia woodland, and, on the escarpment slopes, thorn bushes and baobabs. The highlight of the park's wildlife is the wonderful hippo population. Elephant, giraffe, monkeys, lion and impala are also to be found. Over 380 species of birds have been identified within the park.

Day
6-7 - Ngorongoro Crater
Continue your journey descending 2,000 feet in 4x4 vehicles into the largest, undamaged
caldera in the world. This World Heritage Site is estimated that more than 30,000 animals
can be found within the crater walls at any one time. It is home
to the largest non-migratory populations of wildlife in East Africa
including prides of lion, the rare black rhino, elephant, cheetah,
antelope, great herds of Cape buffalo and so many more. Because
the crater floor is mostly grassland with patches of acacia woodland,
game viewing is excellent. Explore the forest areas where you can
see monkey and elephant, the lake area where you may see the beautiful
flamingos and the open savannahs where the majestic "Kings",
the lions, hunt for food. An afternoon game drive awaits you on your first day in the Crater - followed by a full day game drive with a
picnic lunch by the hippo pool on your second day.

Day
8 - Olduvai Gorge / Serengeti National Park
This morning we drive to Serengeti National Park. Stopping at Olduvai Gorge along the route, we observe the site where Leakey's discovery of the remains of Homo Erectus, brought crucial understanding to the study of the evolution of man. Serengeti is the most famous wildlife sanctuary in the world, where the great migration begins and ends. Numbers of up to 1.5 million wildebeest and zebra inhabit the area. The Kopjes, massive islands of granite standing in a sea of grass, provide shelter to a great variety of animals including lions, and the ever elusive leopard.

Day
9-11 - Serengeti National Park
The world famous Serengeti National Park, the largest in Tanzania, occupies about 14,763 square kilometers. The name Serengeti means endless plains and is derived from the Maasai word 'siringiti'. You are now in the southern eco-system of the Mara plains. This is the area of the world-famous migration. However, as in the Mara, the Serengeti has year round resident game. As in all ecosystems, the vegetation and types of animals you find are closely correlated. The principal features of the park are the short and long grass open plains in the southeast, the acacia savannah in the central are, the hilly, more densely wooded central northern section and the extensive woodland and black clay plains, dominated by the central ranges of mountains in the western corridor. Morning and afternoon game drives in the Serengeti National Park.
