All safari participants should read and understand the following information explaining the Terms and Conditions of Born Free, Inc.
TRAVEL
AGENTS can provide invaluable assistance and information that cannot be obtained in this brochure. Born Free has excellent long-standing relationships with experienced agents who sell African safaris. We would be pleased to work with your agent or refer you to a professional travel agent in your area.
WHAT
IS INCLUDED & NOT INCLUDED IN THE TOUR PRICE:
Each tour has a separate list of what is included in the package. If you have any questions of the inclusions, please call our offices. Details will also be outlined in your travel service contract.
RESERVATIONS
AND REGISTRATION:
Born Free requires a US $500 per person deposit to
confirm your safari, with balance generally due ninety days prior
to your departure date. Upon deposit you will receive a "Travel
Service Contract" with a schedule of payments for your particular
trip. In some cases additional deposits may be required, such as
the Gorilla Trek or certain Botswana safaris. Reservations will
be cancelled, with full loss of deposit, if final payment is not
received by the due date. Changes to existing reservations will
result in a US $25 administrative charge, and any changes made within
sixty days of tour date will be charged at cancellation penalties
outlined. Documentation is sent approximately two weeks prior to
your travel date. If your reservations are made within 60 days of
departure, the entire amount in the form of a cashier’s check or
credit card is to be submitted at the time of reservations and confirmation.
If you are making your reservations within 45 days of departure,
you must pay in full by cashier’s check or bank transfer plus a
nonrefundable fee of $75 per person for expedited services. Your
travel service contract will show any variations of these terms.
CANCELLATIONS:
Born Free, Inc. trip & cancellation policies apply
in every instance, without exception. A Travel Insurance Protection
Policy will be available through the Born Free office, or through
your travel agent. All cancellations must be made in writing to
Born Free, Inc. As a general guideline, cancellation fees imposed
are based on number of days prior to departure:
91 days or more - $500 per
person 90-60 days prior - 30% of
tour cost
59-31 days prior - 50% of
tour cost 30 days or less - 100% of tour cost
Certain suppliers have higher cancellation fees. These fees will
be outlined on your personal "Travel Service Contract," or on request they can be given at time booking inquiry. Refunds
will depend on recoverable monies that are secured from the overseas
travel suppliers. Cancellation fees can be as much as 100% of the
tour cost. Once a tour is in progress, no refund will be made for
less than three consecutive days of missed services such as unused
sightseeing or meals. Cancellations or rescheduling for any uninsured
incident will be assessed at the time of occurrence. The above fees
are in addition to any airline enforced fees or unrecoverable fees
associated with high season travel.
Special Note: If you cancel your safari prior to paying all monies due Born Free (at the time of said cancellation), those monies will still be due to Born Free, Inc. and the above cancellation fees will apply. If you have purchased trip cancellation and interruption insurance you may be covered for any loss of funds
All Airline Change Cancellation Fee To Be Assessed Separately.
TRAVEL
INSURANCE:
Born Free will include an application for Travel Insurance with your initial invoice. The coverage is highly recommended and in some cases travel insurance may be mandatory. Pre-existing
medical conditions can be covered if your insurance payment is received
with 10 days of your initial trip deposit. In the event that you
would have to cancel your travel plans, travel insurance can protect
you against the high cancellation fees. You will be sent an insurance
application upon enrollment.
AIR
TRANSPORTATION:
Airfares are quoted at the time of booking/inquiry and do not include tax. Taxes are subject to last minute change. Airlines will not be held responsible for any act, omission or events during the time passengers are not on board their planes or conveyances. Airline schedules are subject to change without prior notice, at the sole discretion of the issuing carriers. Flights are occasionally subject to overbooking or cancellation. If this occurs, prior to the date of departure, Born Free will do all possible to secure alternate means of travel without additional cost to the traveler. However, in some cases this may not be possible. If an airline change or cancellation occurs upon attempted departure it is up to the traveller to coordinate with the airline alternate means of travel to the safari destination. Born Free, Inc. cannot be held responsible for denied boarding or cancelled flights, or for the costs incurred, or monies not recovered for missed land arrangements. All and any costs due to airline delays and changes are to be borne by the traveller.
PARTICIPATION
IN ACTIVITIES:
There are certain activities furnished by independent suppliers that have a degree of danger. Some of these activities entail various inherent risks. You must follow the directions given by suppliers. This is for you own safety. These activities include but are not limited to: walking, horseback, and elephant safaris, canoeing, rafting, hot-air-ballooning and gorilla trekking. Roads are rough, so persons with bad backs should be aware of these conditions before venturing on safari. It should also be noted that you are going on an African safari and the animals are wild and could cause personal injury. It is essential to follow all the rules of the bush, including never walking alone in the dark. You should be aware that although precautions are taken by the suppliers to guard against such dangers, your safety cannot be guaranteed. Should you elect to participate in such activities, understand that such participation will be at your own risk, and that Born Free, Inc. cannot assume responsibility for your safety.
